Driving the wrong way on a major highway would be difficult to do without crashing. Dodging cars while naked and being chased by police really ramps up the difficulty.
A 23-year-old woman managed to avoid death, but not charges of fleeing and eluding, child abuse and indecent exposure, in a recent roadway romp on U.S. 127 in Michigan, reports The Morning Sun.
A picture of the suspect, who has not been identified, was not immediately available despite my Googling prowess. [Update: Names and photos have been released]
Police say the woman abandoned her husband (naked) and child (also naked) at a rest stop near the small town of Clare and drove north at high speed on southbound lanes.
Someone reported the naked, wrong-way driver and police were soon in hot pursuit. The woman avoided police “stop sticks” but jumped out of her Chevy Blazer and went streaking. She was eventually captured.
As usual in these sort of situations, nobody seems to know why everyone was naked. Due to the timing of the incident, 4:30 a.m. on a Tuesday, I’m thinking drugs or a clothing-optional fishing expedition must be to blame.
The 32-year-old husband was charged with indecent exposure and child abuse. The child, who is the real victim in this incident, was handed over to a clothed person the parents know.
The couple will be arraigned today, if the police can get them into orange jumpsuits.
